Watering restrictions in Laval
The City of Laval has created watering restrictions in Laval to promote responsible water use during the hot season. These rules apply from May 1 to September 30. Importantly, the watering schedule changes based on your exact address, including the civic number and postal code.
When can you water?
You can use automatic and non-automatic watering systems twice a week during specific hours. However, each area in Laval has different assigned days.
Automatic systems follow this early morning schedule from 4:30 to 6:00 a.m.:
Postal Codes | Days |
H7B, H7G, H7L, H7N, H7S, H7V, H7X | Mondays and Thursdays |
H7A, H7H, H7M, H7R, H7W | Tuesdays and Fridays |
H7C, H7E, H7J, H7K, H7P, H7T, H7Y | Wednesdays and Saturdays |
To confirm your schedule, check the city’s official tool: Ville de Laval – Search by address
Manual watering is allowed daily from 6:00 to 9:00 a.m. and from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. You must hold the hose by hand and use a nozzle with an automatic shut-off.
What about the rest of the year?
From October 1 to April 30, the city bans all automatic and non-automatic watering systems. Still, you can water flowers, gardens, or vegetable plots by hand. You may also use a watering can at any time.
What are the penalties?
By-law L-12778 enforces the watering restrictions in Laval. If you break the rules, you could face fines:
- Individuals: from $100 to $1,000
- Businesses or repeat offenders: up to $4,000
Laval also carries out regular inspections.
Respecting the watering restrictions in Laval helps you avoid fines and supports the conservation of our most essential resource: water.
