Saint-Jean-Sur-Richelieu

From May 1 to September 1, watering lawns, gardens, flowers, trees, and other plants is permitted under certain conditions. The watering schedule for lawns is regulated as follows:

Outside of these conditions, watering lawns with water from the municipal system is strictly prohibited. However, a temporary watering permit can be obtained for watering new lawns, plantings, or hedges.

Watering gardens, flowers, trees, or other plants is permitted at any time using a manual spray nozzle or a manual watering can, provided only the necessary amount of water is used.

Temporary Watering Permit

A temporary watering permit can be obtained to use municipal water for watering new lawns, plantings, or hedges under the following conditions:

  • All day on the day of laying sod or seeding.
  • Subsequently, between 6 a.m. and 9 a.m. and between 8 p.m. and midnight for a maximum period of 15 days from the installation date.
  • The watering area is limited to the area occupied by the new lawn, planting, or hedge.

Permit applications must be made online at sjsr.ca or in person at the Department of Urban Planning, Environment, and Economic Development (contact information on the back of the guide). The temporary watering permit is free and non-renewable.
