Temporary Watering Permit

A temporary watering permit grants special authorization to water for a specific period of time. Each citizen can request two temporary watering permits per year, free of charge.
A temporary watering permit must be obtained in the following situations:

  • Using potable water for specialized work (house cleaning for painting, paving cleaning, etc.);
  • Treating harmful insects;
  • To water new gardens and lawn work.

Note that when an absolute watering ban is in effect, all temporary watering permits are suspended.

Applying for a Temporary Watering Permit

To obtain a temporary watering permit, you must complete an online application (free). Online permit requests are ready in 30 minutes.
Your permit must be requested on the same day as the work, as the dates cannot be changed once issued.
You must then click on the link in your email to access your application tracking which will allow you to download your permit in PDF format. We recommend displaying your license so that it is visible from the street. It is important to keep this document as proof for presentation to patrol officers upon request.

Long-Term Watering Permit

To obtain a watering permit or renew an expired permit, you must contact the Citizen’s Office at 450 961-2001 or through the contact form. Permit applications are free. No online processing is possible.
You must keep the proof of purchase of the treatment or service used to present it to the licensing officer when requested.
